Before Mahogany, before Auburn Bay, before Chaparral, there was Lake Bonavista. It was Calgary’s first lake community, and decades later it still has something newer communities can’t match: mature trees, big lots and a settled, established feel.
Two lakes, one community
The community is built around two lakes, Lake Bonavista and Lake Bonaventure, with beaches, waterfalls and a busy community centre running hockey, curling and skating through the winter.
What’s for sale
Many of the original 1960s and 70s homes have been renovated or rebuilt, and lakefront estates sit beside classic bungalows. For buyers who want lake living close to Macleod Trail, the CTrain and Fish Creek Provincial Park, it remains one of the best values in the city.
